Welcome
My name is Befekir Kebede. I was born and raised in Ethiopia and I currently reside in Melbourne – Australia. I have a passion for photography and journalism. In my pursuit to qualify myself, I have studied multimedia, photography, journalism and documentary-filmmaking at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Australia and I am currently working as a freelancer in those fields.
My favorite subjects to photograph are Ethiopians – especially children and their ways of life. I am constantly fascinated by the enduring existence of various Ethiopian cultures in the world outside of Ethiopia, how powerful they are, and how they change and challenge perceptions about what it means to be Ethiopian and from Ethiopia.
The majority of Ethiopians in Australia live in Melbourne – a city renowned for being the melting pot of Australia. It is also a beautiful city.
